We all did the same basic technique and had broken backs from bending over. No one is complaining though as it was INSIDE!!
The Milky Way
Star Date April 14, 2014: There is no wormhole Spock. This is the end.
We put some water in a clear baking dish and put some oil in it and stirred it to mix it up. We suspended the dish on paper towel rolls or cans to raise it up a little. Colored paper, beads and/or pom poms were placed underneath and a lamp was placed to shine on them. We shot straight down through the baking dish and the stuff underneath gave us the colors. Great position for getting the shot, but not so much for our backs. We could also add food coloring to the mixture to get different effects. Now you know our secret and super elaborate and high tech setup. Of course if you have a tripod you can set your camera up on that and save your back. Maybe I should break down and get one that won't tip over when I put my camera on it and tip it straight down.
