Oil and water

Sharon got to pick our theme this week. Imagine how excited Keith and I were upon hearing her choice!  Of course we could do it INSIDE and did not have to go out and brave the harsh elements, thus eliminating the chance of losing our limbs from frostbite.

We all did the same basic technique and had broken backs from bending over. No one is complaining though as it was INSIDE!!

Scrunched

Sharon wanted to explain our procedure in case anyone wants to rush out and do the same type of picture.
We put some water in a clear baking dish and put some oil in it and stirred it to mix it up.  We suspended the dish on paper towel rolls or cans to raise it up a little.  Colored paper, beads and/or pom poms were placed underneath and a lamp was placed to shine on them. We shot straight down through the baking dish and the stuff underneath gave us the colors.  Great position for getting the shot, but not so much for our backs.  We could also add food coloring to the mixture to get different effects.  Now you know our secret and super elaborate and high tech setup.  Of course if you have a tripod you can set your camera up on that and save your back.  Maybe I should break down and get one that won't tip over when I put my camera on it and tip it straight down.

  5. I like #1 the most. I like the darker colors in it. Second favorite is #3. I don't like #2 much because it's kind of alot to look at and I'm not big on the rainbow colors..
I think what I would of liked more is a natural oil and water look. Not colors. It would have been interesting to see what could have been done with different oils maybe. Idk.. I'm not a photographer lol

  7. Another week already, and another tough decision to make. But #2 grabbed my attention straight away. Loving the sharp vivid colours, along with the rainbows within the bubbles. Another great effort guy n gals.

  9. I chose #1 for the colour and lighting.
I liked #2 for the title
I liked #3 as well for the 'scrunched up' oil drops, but I thought it was darker on the left side, maybe not lit evenly ?? ... I don't know, I'm not a photographer but I wish I was ... this is the most fun thing ever.

  11. I like pic 1, but I think it needed more detail and less small bubbles. Pic 2 looked pretty awesome because it was colorful and didn't have too many bubbles in it. Pic 3 needed brighter colors to make it pop out.

  12. I did not like the second because I did not like the colors. I did not like the third one because it was too blah. I liked the first one because I liked the color.

  13. Number one looks colorless with a big streak and three looks cool because the oil droplets look '' scrunched '' together. Two looks like a thing squished together.
